Jez Groom is a world-leading behavioural scientist with over 35 years’ experience helping organisations across the private, public, and non-profit sectors use evidence-based design to drive meaningful change. From improving customer and citizen experiences to enhancing employee behaviour, his work combines rigorous science with practical insight to make a positive impact on people, organisations, and communities.
Jez’s mission is clear: to help small and medium sized enterprises grow by thinking smaller and acting smarter, bringing the power of behavioural science to the people and organisations that need it most.
He serves as a Board Member of BeScy.org, an organisation dedicated to advancing behavioural science, supporting professional development, fostering collaboration across the discipline, and ensuring insights are applied ethically and effectively. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at City, St George’s, helping bridge the gap between academic theory and practical applications. He is also the co-author of the published book Ripple: The big effects of small behaviour changes in business.
Jez is the original founder of Cowry Consulting, which he successfully built and later exited to VCCP Group. Under his leadership, Cowry was recognised as one of the UK's leading management consultancies by the Financial Times in 2024, 2025 and 2026 and he was awarded the highly prestigious Experienced Leader of the Year Award in 2025 by The Management Consultancies Association, the MCA. He also co-founded #ogilvychange in 2011, latterly the behavioural science practice of Ogilvy Consulting and prior to in 2009 that founded ENGINE Decisions, one of the UK’s first dedicated behavioural science consultancies.
